Where’s the best falafel in London?

Falafel at l'As du Falafel in Paris

Falafel at l’As du Falafel by John Koll

Ever since I ate the magnificent falafel at l’As du Falafel (‘Falafel Ace’) in Paris last month I’ve been slightly obsessed with these tasty fried balls.

The falafel, or chickpea meatball, as it was once described (not by me, I hasten to add) is currently top of my food craving list… So I thought I’d try to find out where the best London falafel might be…

The Shortlist (other suggestions welcome)

In the coming months, I hope to try them all. If you have a favourite, whether it’s on this list or not, let me know.

In other news: falafels may become as popular as curries with Britons, from 2009… Hmm.

the Lebanese felafel stand in chapel market. Unbeatable, seriously…I would never eat it anywhere else again except when I make it at home. It is the best lunch you can get in London fullstop.

I tried Pita in Golders Green after reading reviews here. I would NOT recommend it to any vegetarian people. They use the same cutlery to cook chicken n other stuff in front of you so must No if u r strict vegetarian.

I would strongly recommend Pilpel or organic chickpeas (at canary wharf), they are the best ones!

Have to second Mai’s recommendation of Organic Chickpeas (stand outside of Canary Wharf tube) – hands down, my favorite falafel in London. I’m also a meat eater, so the mixed cutlery at Pita in Golder’s Green doesn’t bother me – I enjoy their falafel quite a bit as well.
